As the university's advocate for service leadership and volunteerism among students, C4SR has established a series of awards and grants to recognise outstanding student achievements and to promote excellence in Community Service.
AWARDS
SMU students may be considered for awards donated by various organisations and individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in Community Service. The following awards are made possible through the generous donations of SMU's well-wishers:
Pilot Pen Community Champion Award aims to recognise outstanding contributions by undergraduate students in community service.
SSA-Ikeda Peace Award is an annual award sponsored by the Singapore Soka Association in recognition of students who have made significant contributions through volunteerism with volunteer welfare organisations.
Yu Xin Community Leadership Award recognises outstanding students in community leadership and aims to motivate them to achieve greater heights of excellence in community service.
GRANTS
There are several financial assistance schemes or subsidies available to SMU undergraduate students for the funding of community service work, so as to ensure students are not denied an opportunity because of financial difficulties.
CDL Young CSR Leaders Fund is established by City Developments Ltd to groom student leaders in community service.
Community Service Projects Grant is established by Associate Professor Themin and Mrs Febrita Suwardy in support of full-time undergraduates undertaking community service projects.
GIC Sparks & Smiles Grant is sponsored by GIC Pte Ltd to support full-time undergraduates in the leadership and community programme.
Ruth Chiang Overseas Community Service Grant is set up by Mrs Ruth Chiang, the founding Director of the Office of Career Services, to support students working with less-privileged communities in Cambodia on education and training programmes.
Shirin Fozdar Community Service Projects Grant facilitates the advancement of the women community through meaningful and sustainable local community service projects that could make a difference to women's lives.
Wilmar Overseas Community Service Project Grant facilitates student participation in overseas community service projects. It exposes students to the less fortunate in emerging economies and allows them to better relate to the needs of others in society and to assist them.
